"Let it all hang out" or 'Suck it up"? Which is it?
Popularized since the 60's is the notion that it is “hypocritical” or ‘inauthentic’ to act contrary to one’s feelings. Stifling desires and emotions is unhealthy, even damaging. So what about the traditional practice of 'self-discipline'? How is it related to spiritual formation? Are desires trainable? All of them?
